The United States Postal Service (USPS) recently announced a "Post Office Box Lobby Recycling Program," which places secure recycling bins in the lobbies of post offices where post office box customers can read and discard unwanted mail easily. Each post office box generates 184 pounds of mail per year. USPS estimates that this new program will allow up to 40 percent of this mail to be recycled at the Post Office. Crow Creek Quarry Clean-Up pics online
iLivehere community member Gary Kimler wrote a blog post last week inviting all of the folks here to help out with a special clean-up event this weekend. Gary and his scuba diving crew were going to pull stuff out of the Crow Creek Park Quarry.
Well, some iLivehere members showed up to help out and now you can see our pictures from the time we spent cleaning up the quarry and the trails and shoreline around it. It was a great day for a cleanup and we had a great time (complete with a cook-out).
iLivehere member organizes a family cleanup
Chris Bawden, an iLivehere member from Riverdale, Iowa needed a family service project in order to earn the Family Life merit badge. Check out these pictures from the cleanup he organized for July 26th.
Chris went online to iLivehereqc.org and registered his cleanup with the Waste Commission of Scott County. The materials were ready for pick-up a few days later and now the garbage is out by the curb ready for pick-up on Monday. As a result, the ravine by Chris' house is litter free (at least for the time-being).
Organize your own cleanup (of your neighborhood, business or community), post your pictures and we'll feature you on our web site!
